In 1995, by order of the City Health Department dated September 28, the first in vitro fertilization laboratory was opened at the Almaty City Human Reproduction Center under the leadership of Tamara Muftakhovna Dzhusubalieva, and this day can rightly be considered the “Birthday of IVF” in Kazakhstan
Over the years, the IVF laboratory of 5 people has grown into a scientific and practical Institute of Reproductive Medicine with more than 300 employees in three IRM clinics and has become a leader in the field of ART in Kazakhstan. The backbone of the IWW continues to be those who started it back in the mid-90s.
Today, both female and severe forms of male infertility are successfully treated, including surgical and microsurgical methods, preservation of reproductive function in cancer patients and genetic research of embryos with the aim of giving birth to a healthy child. Over the past 5 years, IRM has held the title of a clinic of the highest category in terms of the quality of medical services provided according to the results of accreditation by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Medical tourism has been gaining momentum in recent years. Every year, patients from 35 countries, including foreign countries, are treated.
In the IRM, over 25 years, 16,000 children were born into families that were previously doomed to childlessness. Our children become parents themselves, but without medical intervention.
Since 2010, IRM has been fulfilling state orders for quota-based IVF programs. The start began with 100 quotas, in 2019 there were already 900, but this turned out to be insufficient for a country with a population of 18 million. The inaccessibility of expensive services for many childless families causes their breakdown.
A significant event in the anniversary year is the Message of President Kassym-Jomart TOKAYEV: in which, expressing serious concern about the family and demographic situation, he instructed the government to launch a special program “Ansagan səbi” from 2021. , with an increase in the number of quotas for IVF programs to 7 thousand, that is, 7 times.
