The procedure is performed on days 7-10 of the menstrual cycle to exclude tubal infertility in women.
It is performed on an outpatient basis and involves the introduction of warm saline (0.9% NaCl) through a catheter into the uterine cavity.
Assessment of the condition of the uterine cavity and patency of the fallopian tubes is carried out using ultrasound.
Under ultrasound control, a sterile saline solution is supplied through the catheter, and the fluid flow directed to the uterine angles is determined on the ultrasound machine monitor, which indicates the patency of the fallopian tubes in the interstitial sections.
Advantages of the method:
- X-ray contrast solution is not used
- no x-ray irradiation of the ovaries
- the procedure is safe
- the procedure does not require pain relief.
- procedure time 15 minutes
